Academic Year at USP

For Bachelor Exchange Students

The academic year at the University of São Paulo for bachelor students is divided into two semesters:

 - 1st semester: Starts in late February and ends in July.

 - 2nd semester: Begins in August and ends in mid-December.

There is a short vacation period between semesters and a longer recess at the end of the year.

For Graduate Exchange Students

Graduate programs at USP may follow a slightly more flexible academic calendar, but they are generally divided into:

- 1st semester: March to July

- 2nd semester: August to December

Graduate exchange students should contact their host department for specific dates and course availability, as graduate programs may offer courses in modular formats (intensive short-term classes, research-focused activities, etc.).

Language Requirements

USP does not require an official language certificate for application. However, we recommend the following minimum CEFR levels to ensure that students can follow the courses:

 - CEFR A2 for undergraduate courses taught in Portuguese

 - CEFR B2 for postgraduate courses taught in Portuguese

Portuguese Language course is offered by USP Language Center (Levels A1, B1, and C1): https://clinguas.fflch.usp.br/cursos-portugues

Courses Offered

FEAUSP offers a wide variety of courses in different areas of Business, Economics, and Accounting at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Most courses are taught in Portuguese, but we also offer several courses in English, particularly aimed at international and exchange students. Course selection takes place twice a year:

 - In February for students attending the first semester (March–July)

 - In July for students attending the second semester (August–December)
